Hey there! My name is
Claire Dossey (she/her),
I’m originally from Texas, now based in NYC. I’m recently graduated with my BFA in Communication
Design at Parsons School of Art and Design.
In my work, I like to experiment with color and form through playful and witty concepts that connect to social activism, specifically feminism. I am also driven to explore how fun and unpredictable design
can be expressed in a commercial context, going
beyond personal gratification.

Check out my printmaking! 07 Mambo No.8 TypefaceDOC 234—34/2
Spring 2025
Type DesignI chose to create a type revitalization of Gothic No.8, naming my version Mambo No.5, because I was drawn to the bold, utilitarian character of the original and saw potential to reimagine it for a more playful, contemporary context. My goal was to infuse the strict geometry of Gothic No.8 with the flair and optimism of 1960s modernist design—an era that balanced simplicity with personality. By softening some of its harsher qualities and introducing subtle quirks, Mambo No.5 becomes more expressive while retaining the strength of its industrial roots. I envision it being used for cosmetic packaging, where it can convey both confidence and charm, appealing to a modern audience with vintage sensibilities.
