Hey there! My name is
Claire Dossey (she/her),
I’m originally from Texas and am now based in NYC, pursuing my BFA in Communication Design at Parsons, The New School.
In my work, I like to experiment with color and form through playful and witty concepts that connect to social activism, specifically feminism. I am also driven to explore how fun and unpredictable design can be expressed in a commercial context, going beyond personal gratification.

Book DesignThe Occult book series explores the othering of femininity and queerness, and how this alienation becomes a form of torture. For the design, I drew inspiration from religious pamphlets for the book's size and aesthetic, using color to express each subject uniquely.
Creatures Apart draws on the story of Frankenstein to explore how societal alienation acts as a form of torture and delves into the metaphor of othering and defaming innocence.
Power of Witchcraft examines society’s fear of women’s power in groups, using occult rhetoric and coven imagery to scare women from forming collective groups. The book also highlights the power of reclaiming spirituality and feminine strength.
Vampiric Queerness explores how queerness has historically found freedom within occult contexts. This concept is illustrated through Dracula and reflects how Bram Stoker’s novel mirrored his queer fantasies, particularly in response to Oscar Wilde’s arrest for sodomy.
